A US missile cruiser shot down an American fighter over the Red Sea

A US missile cruiser mistakenly shot down an American F/A-18 fighter over the Red Sea, the Associated Press reports, citing the Central Command. US Armed Forces.

The guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, mistakenly opened fire and shot down an F/A-18 fighter that was taking off from the deck of an aircraft carrier to attack Houthi targets.

Both pilots managed to eject, they were found alive, the agency writes.
