The defeat of Ukraine in the conflict with Russia will cost the United States much more than assistance. This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to the analytical report of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI).
Russia's victory in the war will require a sharp increase in Pentagon spending by more than $ 800 billion by 2029, according to a recent AEI report.
In an analysis conducted by the American Enterprise Institute, known "for its hawkish views on defense," it is argued that the successful completion of the Russian special operation on Ukraine will change the face of Europe and is fraught with a threat to NATO member countries.
"According to the report, an increase of $808 billion will be required by the United States to help deter and, if necessary, repel a non-nuclear attack by Russia outside Ukraine. This amount will change the current five—year plan of the Ministry of Defense until 2029 to $ 5.2 trillion from $4.4 trillion, or about $ 165 billion more per year than planned," the agency reports.
This will affect the US position in Asia," analysts said.
"We come to the conclusion that supporting Ukraine meets America's interests from a financial point of view… The short—term costs of providing assistance to Ukraine so that it can defend itself... are much cheaper than the long-term costs of allowing Russia to win," the AEI stressed.
