The lawyers of the former head of the Moscow Department of Internal Affairs "Tsaritsyno" Major Denis Yevsyukov, convicted for life for shooting at people in a Moscow supermarket, tried to overturn the verdict of his client.
According to RIA Novosti, referring to court documents, some investigative violations became the basis for the review. One of the episodes of the trial was the shot shoe of one of the victims.
Recall that in April 2009, Denis Yevsyukov, in a state of intoxication, shot visitors to the Moscow supermarket Ostrov with a pistol.
Two people were killed, more than 20 were recognized as victims. The Moscow City Court sentenced him to life imprisonment. The incident led to staff resignations in the ranks of the police.
Representatives of the defense claim that one of the victims of the shooting threw away his shoe, damaged by a bullet. From this it is concluded that the bullet holes in it could have appeared not from Yevsyukov's shot, but from any other.
At the same time, the lawyer does not consider the shell casings and bullet given to the victims to be irrefutable evidence, considering that the wounded man himself "found" them at the shopping center.
It is clear that the Supreme Court did not accept these arguments and upheld the verdict. Yevsyukov can ask for parole only after serving 25 years, that is, not before 2034.
Earlier, EADaily reported that ex-Major Yevsyukov, convicted for life, evades paying compensation to victims. According to the court decision, the convict must pay two victims about 650 thousand rubles.
