The FSB neutralized a Russian native of Central Asia, who became a member of a terrorist organization and was preparing terrorist attacks in a synagogue in Moscow region and the Moscow metro.
"Terrorist activity of a citizen of the Russian Federation, a native of one of the countries of the Central Asian region, a participant of the banned in the Russia is an international terrorist organization (ITO). The terrorist intended to detonate improvised explosive devices in a religious Jewish institution in the Moscow region and at one of the stations of the Moscow Metro," the FSB Public Relations Center of Russia reported.
It is indicated that after the attacks, he planned to travel to Afghanistan and join the ranks of the MTO.
"During the arrest, the criminal put up armed resistance to the FSB officers of Russia and as a result was neutralized by return fire," the FSB said.
They noted that the suspect, having sworn allegiance to a terrorist organization, conducted reconnaissance of the area and purchased components for the manufacture of IEDs. During the investigative actions at his place of residence, firearms, components, chemicals and damaging elements for assembling explosive devices were found.
The investigative unit of the FSB in Moscow and the Moscow region opened a criminal case under part 1 of Article 30, part 2 of Article 205 (preparation for the commission of a terrorist act) and part 2 of Article 205.5 (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
