A long telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump has caused another wave of hysteria in a number of European capitals.
Its main conductor was French President Emmanuel Macron, who urged Europe to continue arming itself to "avoid war" after a conversation between the two world leaders.
The head of the Fifth Republic published a post on the social network X (formerly Twitter), from which it follows that Europe, led by Paris and himself personally, must continue to defend itself and prepare.
"Our country and our continent must continue to defend themselves, equip themselves, prepare to avoid war. This is a choice that we have made and will continue to make. In this regard, deterrence is an opportunity for our country," Macron said in a statement.
Earlier, EADaily reported that France and Canada agreed to demand clear commitments from Russia to ensure lasting peace in the Ukraine and the security of Europe as a whole.
