In 2024, Russia for the first time applied a ban on the work of foreign media as a retaliatory measure. This was announced today, April 2, by the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov, speaking in The Federation Council.
"For the first time, as a response to the restriction of the activities of Russian media abroad, it was decided to ban the work of 81 foreign publications on the territory of our country. Access to their information resources is limited," Krasnov said.
In addition, the activities of 71 foreign and international organizations were recognized as undesirable, 3 terrorist associations and 172 of their subdivisions were banned.
