The United States is considering the option of creating a neutral territory around the Zaporozhye NPP as part of the settlement of the conflict on Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing sources.
"Another idea of the United States, according to Western officials, is to designate the territory around the nuclear reactor in Zaporozhye as neutral," the article says.
According to the publication, if this plan is implemented, control over this territory could be transferred to Washington.
Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity — the station has six power units with a capacity of one gigawatt each.
