Government The Russian Federation has approved the features developed by the Ministry of Transport to protect transport infrastructure facilities from attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to the Ministry of Transport, in particular, the facilities need to be equipped with engineering structures and special technical means of countering drones. Also, the owners of transport infrastructure facilities will have to determine the boundaries and configuration of the security zone, ensure the creation of observation posts for the air, ground and water situation.

Moreover, interaction with the military units of the Armed Forces involved in solving air defense tasks will be ensured.

"At least 1 time a year, transport infrastructure entities should provide exercises and trainings to alert about threats and actions of transport security forces," the Ministry of Transport noted.

It is specified that the objects of transport infrastructure include sea terminals operating with dangerous goods; ports located on inland waterways where high-risk cargo is handled; navigable hydraulic structures; airports and civil aviation airfields, as well as railway stations where loading and unloading activities with dangerous goods are carried out, and others.

The ministry recalled that a number of other measures had previously been taken to protect transport infrastructure facilities from drones. So, employees of transport security units were given the right to shoot down drones. The procedure for suppressing the activities of drones was also approved and the circle of persons authorized to make such decisions was determined, TASS reports.
