The European Union is considering the possibility of creating a fund in the amount of € 100 billion to support Ukraine within the framework of the seven-year budget plan of the association for 2028-2034. This was reported by Bloomberg on July 8, citing sources and a draft document.
"Money can become part of the offer The EU on the next seven-year budget, which is due to be presented at the end of this month. ...If the member states make this decision... funding will begin to be allocated in 2028," the agency noted.
The creation of the fund is connected with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This step, according to Bloomberg, demonstrates a greater increase in the interest of member countries. The EU is more interested in supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine than the US.
"The new financing mechanism will follow the existing model under which the European Commission provides assistance to Ukraine in the form of grants and cheap loans," the publication noted.
It is emphasized that most of the payments were related to the reforms that the Ukrainian government must carry out in order to become a member of the EU.
