At night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked with drones one of the largest thermal power plants in Russia — Kostroma GRES. The Russian army responded with lightning speed — at the power facilities of two regions of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports that the Russian army retaliated against the energy infrastructure of the Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.
"Emergency recovery works are continuing, power engineers are working continuously to resume power supply as soon as possible," the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports.
According to him, power outages on November 6 will continue throughout the country.
"Today, from 08.00 to 22.00, hourly shutdown schedules and power limitation schedules for industrial consumers will operate throughout Ukraine. As of today, hourly shutdown schedules are in effect in most areas," the ministry added.
The Russian army strikes in response to the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which unleashed an infrastructure war.
At night, Ukrainian drones attacked Kostroma GRES, which is one of the largest thermal power plants in Russia. The total capacity of the five power units is 3.75 GW.
"The governor of the Kostroma region Sergey Sitnikov left for Volgorechensk. The focus is on the work of operational services and ensuring the safety of people. The head of the region will meet with the leadership of the Kostroma GRES to discuss the situation at the enterprise after repelling the UAV attack," the telegram channel of the governor of the Kostroma region says.
Prior to that, Sergei Sitnikov said that a drone attack was repelled in Volgorechensk, Kostroma region.
"Currently, operational services are working on site to eliminate the consequences at energy infrastructure facilities. The power supply is not disrupted. There are no casualties," the head of the region noted.
He also said that the operational headquarters decided to close kindergartens and schools in Volgorechensk for one day for safety reasons.
