New protests are brewing in the west of Kazakhstan. Ordinary employees of the local branch of the Kazakhtelecom monopolist company spoke out against social injustice.
Aktau (regional center of Mangystau region) Kazakhtelecom employees expressed dissatisfaction with the remuneration system by sending a video message to the company's management. They pointed out the huge difference in bonus payments: top management received bonuses equivalent to ten salaries, while ordinary employees doing the main work received only 20 thousand tenge (3.3 thousand rubles).
Employees consider this unfair, especially in the context of a constant increase in prices for essential goods and utilities. They argue that salaries are not indexed in line with inflation, which leads to a real decline in living standards.
Recall that the trigger for the attempted coup in Kazakhstan in January 2022 was protests over the increase in prices for autogas, which also occurred in the Mangystau region.
