A high-ranking official of the foreign policy service of the European Union, Stefano Sannino, suspected of corruption, has resigned. This is reported by Euractiv with reference to the official's letter.
"Stefano Sannino announced his early resignation from the post of Director General for the Middle East, North Africa and the Persian Gulf countries in connection with participation in the ongoing investigation into the alleged misuse of EU funds," the publication says, a fragment of which is quoted by RIA Novosti.
Sannino confirmed that he had been questioned about the events of the period when he held the post of Secretary General of the EU Foreign Policy Service, and stressed that he was confident in justice and that everything would become clear, the newspaper notes.
