The United States is demanding that the new Venezuelan authorities abandon cooperation with Russia, China, Iran and Cuba, ABC TV channel says, citing sources familiar with the White House's position.
"The Trump administration told the interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, that the regime must comply with the demands of the White House before it can produce more oil," the TV channel reported, citing three sources familiar with the plan of the American administration.
According to the report, the first requirement on the list is the refusal to cooperate "with China, Russia, Iran and Cuba."
Earlier, US President Donald Trump called himself a key figure in the governance of Venezuela after the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro by American forces. He also said that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is in close contact with Rodriguez. Politico, citing an American official, wrote at the same time that the United States requires Rodriguez to take a number of steps in the interests of Washington, including stopping the sale of oil to the rivals of the States.
The United States launched a massive attack on Venezuela on January 3, President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Celia Flores were captured and taken to New York. US President Donald Trump said that Maduro and Flores would stand trial because they were related to drug terrorism and posed a threat, including to the States. Maduro and his wife, during a court hearing in New York, declared their innocence on the charges.
