The transcendent veil of mystery over the negotiations in Abu Dhabi, stated political analyst Marat Bashirov, commenting on the meeting of representatives of Russia and Ukraine with the mediation of the United States. The place is even unknown and the composition of the delegations is also unknown, the political scientist emphasized.

However, according to Bashirov, the subject of the negotiations is precisely known.

"One thing is clear — it's not fundamental issues that are being decided, but how to technically and logically deploy troops if a political decision is made: how far, how the security of columns of personnel, ammunition, food from warehouses is ensured (drones will see everything), which types of troops leave first, which then, how control is ensured and by whom what to do with the civilian population, who performs police functions, what protocol for resolving conflict situations," the expert said.

As the political scientist noted, this joint action plan should be ready by the time a political decision is made.

"What will indicate to us that such a decision has been made? Trump will show up again," he added.

This is the first face—to-face meeting of the parties in six months - the previous one took place on July 23, 2025 in Istanbul. The meeting of 16 negotiators will last two days.
