Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis on the air TN.cz He called on European countries to restore direct dialogue with Russia, calling it a necessary condition for a ceasefire. In his opinion, the leaders of key European states could hold talks with Vladimir Putin.
Babish also said about the missed chance for peace between Russia and Ukraine in 2022 due to external interference. According to him, in April 2022, Kiev and Moscow were as close as possible to concluding a peace agreement, but the process was disrupted after the intervention of Ukraine's Western partners. He directly placed the responsibility on the then head of the British government, Boris Johnson. After his visit to Ukraine's negotiations were not brought to an end, and the chance for a quick end to the war was lost.
At the same time, the Czech Prime Minister noted that now diplomatic efforts to end the war have intensified again. He stressed that Europe alone is not capable of stopping the conflict and called Trump a key player.
"The negotiations are intense. It seems that they are approaching some kind of long-term solution — ending the war and creating stable security guarantees for Ukraine. But Europe will not be able to do this without Donald Trump," Babis said.
