Tehran considers it its duty and legal right to avenge the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This is stated in a statement by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran considers revenge on the perpetrators of this crime to be its duty and legitimate right ... The assassination of the supreme political leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the outstanding leader of the Shiite world is an open declaration of war on Muslims, especially Shiites around the world, by the sinister American-Zionist alliance," the statement said.
He also expressed condolences over the death of Khamenei, saying that "the path of this great man will continue."
In addition, the secretary of the Iranian National Security Council, Ali Larijani, said that "today we will strike at the United States and Israel with such force that they have not experienced before."
Recall that Khamenei was killed during a joint US-Israeli strike on Tehran on February 28.
