Nine people were killed in a rocket attack on the city of Beit Shemesh on the outskirts of Jerusalem. This is reported by The Times of Israel newspaper.
Another 28 people were injured.
Most of the dead were in a public shelter, the Jerusalem District police chief said.
"As far as I know... it was probably a direct blow to the shelter, and most, if not all, of the dead were there [in a public shelter]," said Deputy Commissioner Avshalom Peled.
According to him, the police knew after the fighting with Iran in June that public shelters and safe rooms were not able to withstand the force of a direct hit by a ballistic missile.
According to the newspaper, 28 wounded as a result of the Iranian strike in Beit Shemesh are being treated in Jerusalem hospitals.
As reported by EADaily, on February 28, the United States and Israel launched a military campaign against Iran. During the joint US-Israeli strike, one of the missiles hit a school in the city of Minab. According to the latest data, the death toll in a strike on a girls' school in southern Iran has reached 153, 95 people were injured. These are students of the school, said Ali Farhadi, a representative of the Iranian Ministry of Education.
