Soviet and Latvian singer Laima Vaikule promised to take up the machine gun in case of military interaction between Latvia and Russia. She stated this in Russian to the Russian actor Arthur Smolyaninov.❶❷, which is available on YouTube.
"I'll take a machine gun," the singer said, answering a question about a possible invasion of Russia.
The singer is also sure that "if Russian bombs began to fall on Latvia," she would not speak Russian.
"I wouldn't say a word in Russian, or only in obscenities. I know for sure," Vaikule assured.
As EADaily reported, Vaikule previously admitted that she was studying Russian. She clarified that Andrei Makarevich, the leader of the Time Machine group, helps her improve her Russian knowledge ❶.
