The Boeing E-3 Sentry AWACS long-range radar detection aircraft of the US Air Force, destroyed by Iran, costs more than $ 500 million, and its replacement is a difficult task, according to Military Watch Magazine.

Earlier on Sunday, the press service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that the IRGC aerospace forces, with a strike on the American Prince Sultan airbase in Saudi Arabia, destroyed the US E-3 aircraft, also known as the "Flying Radar", with a long-range radar detection and control system.

"It will be especially difficult to replace the E-3, since funding for the creation of the first E-7 Wedgetail airborne long—range radar detection systems after the end of the Cold War was approved only in early March, and the queue for receiving aircraft is still very long," the publication reports.

According to media reports, this is one of the most expensive aircraft in the US Air Force. Its approximate cost is about $ 500 million.

Iran is attacking American military facilities in the Middle East and in Israel in response to the military operation launched by the United States and Israel on February 28.
