Honored Artist of Russia Nikolai Solovyov died at the age of 66. This is reported on the website of the Novosibirsk City Drama Theater under the direction of Sergei Afanasyev.
Solovyov served in the theater for more than 30 years. During his career, he played more than 70 roles, including performances based on plays by Anton Chekhov, William Shakespeare, Maxim Gorky and other classical and contemporary authors. As a director, he staged nine performances.
"Each role of the artist became a real event not only for theater fans, but also for the entire theater community of the city of Novosibirsk. Nikolai Solovyov has repeatedly become a laureate of All—Russian and international theater festivals and competitions, and has also been awarded for his contribution to the development of theatrical art," the message says.
Solovyov is known to the Russian audience for his roles in such popular TV series as "Streets of Broken Lanterns-16" and "Sea Devils. The Frontiers of the Motherland."
In 2006, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia.
