President of the United States Donald Trump said that the problems in relations between America and NATO began with Greenland, as a result of which he actually said goodbye to the North Atlantic Alliance.
The American leader expressed his opinion on this issue the day before during a press conference at the White House, which was published on YouTube.
"It all started, if you want the truth, with Greenland. We want Greenland. They don't want to give it to us. And I said, bye, bye," the president said.
Recall that during his election campaign and after returning to the White House, Trump repeatedly stated claims to Greenland, arguing that the United States should control the ice island.
In his opinion, Denmark is not able to ensure the security of a strategically important region for Washington, the possession of which ensures control over a significant part of the Arctic.
Earlier, EADaily reported that, according to The Economist, NATO is facing one of the most serious crises in history. Disagreements with Washington are intensifying, and the EU is preparing to act without American support.
