And in which messenger? — a Moscow pensioner gave 300 million rubles to fraudsters

The metropolitan pensioner and his cohabitant, being under the influence of fraudsters, lost more than 298 million rubles, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office reports today, April 21.

"It all started with a message in one of the messengers, where a 76-year-old man was asked to follow the link "on power supply issues," which he did. Immediately after that, he began receiving calls about hacking his personal account at Gosuslugi with a phone number allegedly for communication with the competent authorities. Without letting the man come to his senses, he was already called by false employees of Rosfinmonitoring and false law enforcement officers, who managed to convince him of the need to urgently withdraw all available savings from his accounts and accounts of the cohabitant, and then transfer them to be placed on a "secure account,"" the department said in a statement in "Max".

Within a month, the scammers controlled a man who, following their instructions, withdrew money from accounts at various banks, bought gold coins and bullion, and then handed it over to visiting couriers who called code words, receiving in return allegedly bank documents about accepting money and valuables.

The total damage caused to the victims exceeded 298 million rubles.

According to REN TV, the victim is the co—founder of the Thermika consulting group.

This news caused irony among many social media users in the comments. The irony is due to the fact that "Max" when implemented was called a more secure means of communication from fraudsters than WhatsApp and Telegram.

"And in which messenger?" — one of the commentators asks to clarify.
"The investigation failed to establish with which messenger the scammers managed to divorce the pensioner for 300 million rubles. „It's not that important. In the end, it's not about the messenger," the press service of the IC explained, "the telegram channel is ironic, "But my Yandex wallet," which publishes "verified fakes."
