The EU authorities are confident that the € 90 billion issued to Ukraine for conducting military operations against Russia will be returned to it at the expense of reparations from Russia. This is stated in the statement of the EU Council regarding the approval of the "reparations loan".

"The loan will be financed by a European loan on commercial markets under the guarantee of the EU budget. The loan will be paid at the expense of reparations that Russia will owe to Ukraine," the text says, quoted by TASS.

As EADaily reported, earlier today, the Council of the European Union at the ministerial level completed the approval procedure for the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions and financing of Ukraine for 90 billion euros for 2026-2027. As stated by the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, "they promised, fulfilled, put into practice." EC President Ursula von der Leyen noted that the European Union will begin "rapid implementation of solutions on both fronts" — increasing pressure on Russia and assistance to Kiev. The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, in turn, assured that the EU would provide Ukraine with "everything necessary to maintain positions."
