The Belgian depository Euroclear issued an official statement after the Moscow Arbitration Court granted the claim of the Central Bank of Russia. The company confirmed that the assets of the Russian regulator, which are stored in Euroclear Bank, are still blocked due to international restrictive measures. Details are provided by RBC.
In their response, representatives of the depository stressed that, despite the verdict of the Russian court in favor of the Central Bank, the company does not accept this claim and plans to appeal it.
"Euroclear strongly disputes this claim, considering it unfounded," the text of the statement reads.
The financial institution also added that such proceedings have no legal force under the legislation of the European Union. Moreover, the company itself does not recognize the jurisdiction of the Russian court and does not intend to execute its decision.
