In the Karlovy Vary region of the Czech Republic, due to a sharp decline in the number of Russian tourists, almost 18 thousand companies have closed in the last few years. This is reported by a number of media outlets.
It is noted that if in 2019 the resorts of the Karlovy Vary region were visited by more than 83 thousand Russians, then in 2025 their number decreased to 6355 people. Thus, the flow of tourists from Russia decreased by almost 93%. Moreover, the most difficult year for business was 2023. Then 8853 companies stopped working in the region.
Recall that the first blow to Karlovy Vary was caused by the coronavirus pandemic. After starting SMO on In Ukraine and the rupture of relations with Moscow by Prague, the situation deteriorated sharply, since it was the Russians who were the main part of the tourists who came to this resort. Due to the drop in tourist traffic, hotels, sanatoriums, restaurants, shops and other enterprises related to the tourism sector began to close.
