The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, opposed the idea of Ukraine's "associate membership" in the EU, which was previously proposed by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
This is reported by Reuters, citing informed sources in Brussels . According to them, the Ukrofuhrer sent a letter to the leadership of the European Union on May 22.
In this message, Zelensky does not hide his irritation with the unwillingness to accept Ukraine into the "European family." He believes that it would be unfair for Ukraine to be in the EU without the right to vote.
"It is time to move forward on the issue of Ukraine's membership — fully and meaningfully," the letter says.
At the same time, Zelensky emphasized that Viktor Orban's departure from power in Hungary opened up an opportunity for progress in negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
"We are defending Europe — completely, not partially and not by half measures. Ukraine deserves a fair approach and equal rights in Europe," Zelensky said.
Earlier, EADaily reported that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is actively lobbying for Ukraine's associate membership in the European Union (EU), urging Brussels to implement this prospect as soon as possible. If this option is implemented, Ukraine will participate in EU meetings, but will not have the right to vote and access to the pan-European budget.
