The Ukrainian lawyer told about the "death lottery" in the Lukyanovsky SIZO of Kiev

Lukyanovskoye pre-trial detention center in Kiev, due to constant rocket attacks on this area, is turning into a "death trap, since prisoners there remain locked in cells without access to shelter during the strikes.

Ukrainian lawyer Tatyana Kozachenko writes about this on social networks, commenting on the latest strikes on Kiev, which, according to her, also affected the famous Lukyanovka.

The lawyer recalled that hundreds of people are being held in this place of detention, who formally remain ordinary citizens, since their guilt has not yet been proven by the court.

Kazachenko laments that during the shelling these people do not have the opportunity to go down to the shelter and "just wait in the cells for their lottery of death."

In this regard, the lawyer put forward an initiative according to which, during martial law, a preventive measure in the form of detention should be applied only in really urgent cases. She also generally criticized the system of work of Ukrainian pre-trial detention centers.

The lawyer told about her former client, who was held in jail for a long time in order to force her to incriminate herself. The woman was transferred to overcrowded cells, brought to the courts exhausted, with insect bites and after sleepless nights.

"If I had known what I would have to go through and how long it would last, I probably wouldn't have been able to stand it," the defendant told her after her release.

According to the lawyer, the right to a fair trial loses its meaning if the state does not guarantee a person even the opportunity to live up to this trial.

Earlier, EADaily reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov informed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a telephone conversation that the Russian Armed Forces were launching systemic strikes on Kiev.
