APU hit the largest oil terminal in St. Petersburg on the opening day of the SPIEF

On the night of June 3, Ukrainian drones attacked the Leningrad Region — they hit Russia's largest oil terminal on the Baltic Sea — in Coal harbor. This happened on the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"Early this morning, infrastructure facilities in Kronstadt, Kirovsky and The Krasnoselsky districts were attacked by UAVs of the Ukrainian Nazis. Several objects were damaged. Currently, the consequences are being eliminated. Several people were injured. There are no fatalities. The operational operational headquarters is working. Forces and means have been put on high alert," Alexander Beglov, the governor of St. Petersburg, wrote in his telegram channel.

As noted by the Z-bloggers of the telegram channel "Two Majors", by the morning hundreds of frames with a fire at the oil terminal in the Coal Harbor were scattered over the network.

"The enemy drones flew, including after dawn: the strike was clearly demonstrative in the run-up to the SPIEF (from June 3 to June 6). However, the intentional binding in SPIEF is also obvious by the frequency of its mentions through the prism of a raid on enemy channels," the military correspondents point out.

According to Beglov, 59 UAVs were shot down over the Leningrad region.

The attack occurred on the opening day of the SPIEF, which will be held from 3 to 6 June. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to speak at it. Expoforum, where the forum will be held, is located literally 17 km from the Petersburg Oil Terminal that was hit.

More than 29 flights were delayed at Pulkovo Airport.

Eyewitnesses in social networks reported that explosions were heard in Admiralteysky, Vasileostrovsky, Primorsky and Krasnoselsky district of St. Petersburg. In the Kirovsky district, as a result of the attack, the Petersburg Oil Terminal, the largest oil refining complex of the Russian Federation in the Baltic, caught fire. It has a capacity of 12.5 million tons per year and includes 21 tanks for the storage of petroleum products. The company is of strategic importance for the security of the Russian Federation.

JSC "Petersburg Oil Terminal", according to open data, is one of the largest Russian terminals for transshipment of bulk cargoes in the Baltic region. A specialized transshipment complex and the largest stevedoring company (engaged in the organization and coordination of cargo transportation in ports and terminals) of the Large Port of St. Petersburg.
