The star of Eldar Ryazanov's film "The Irony of Fate, or with a Light Steam!" (1975), Polish actress Barbara Brylska admitted that she is in constant pain and practically does not leave her apartment. This is reported by the portal "Paragraph".
"I forget a lot, more and more. The disease twists the fingers. Each finger in the other direction. And it hurts, and nothing can be done about it. It's useless to be treated, it won't help," the star stated.
She explained that it's just age, as doctors say — a disease of natural causes, there is no cure for it — only vitamins and drugs, for example, for pressure.
"Everything hurts me. What can I want? Peace and health," Brylska stressed.
The actress added that she lives independently, but practically does not leave her city apartment, her son's family lives separately, and most of her friends have gone to another world.
"Many, many of my friends have already left, died. Only the son and grandchildren remained. I don't need anything anymore. The only cure is death. So I live as best I can. I don't want an assistant. I live alone. My son lives separately, with his family, and for now I do everything myself. He, however, makes purchases for me — so that I don't carry heavy things. And the rest is all by myself. I have a cat at home. Her name is Baby. She came to me a few years ago at the dacha. She gave birth to little kittens there in the barn… She came with me to Warsaw and still lives with me," the actress said.
Recall, on June 5 Barbara Brylska turned 85 years old. Her film debut took place at the age of 15 in the film "Galoshes of happiness". After filming, she began to study in a theater circle, studied at the Lodz Higher Theater School. In 1967 she graduated from the Warsaw Higher School of Theater, Film and Television.
The first significant role of the actress was in the film "Their weekday" (1963), also played the role of the priestess of Kama in the film "Pharaoh" (1966), became widely known after the scandalous role of Eve in the film "Anatomy of Love".
She also starred in numerous TV series produced by Czechoslovakia, Poland, the GDR, and Bulgaria.
For the role of Nadia in the "Irony of Fate" Brylska was awarded the State Prize. In total, the actress's filmography includes more than 40 projects.
As EADaily reported, earlier, according to the "Paragraph" portal, she refused to talk to journalists if they spoke Russian.
"Otherwise I will not communicate. I will not speakRussian! I will not tell the Russians what I do and where I live!", Brylska said rudely.
It should be noted that the actress gave a big interview to the Polish media for the last time in 2021, it was timed to coincide with her 80th birthday. Brylska said she was feeling well, but she had left the profession and was no longer going to appear on the screens. In April 2025, in a telephone conversation with the Newsweek portal, she refused an interview and stated that her time in the media was over.
