The Swedish Defense Committee in its report indicated that it should be assumed that hostilities between Russia and NATO could begin "relatively soon." The committee includes representatives of eight parliamentary parties, experts and specialists from government agencies and authorities.

The document, which defines the future direction of the kingdom's defense development, states that "Russia's military actions, for example, to test the cohesion and authority of NATO in accordance with Article 5, should begin relatively soon," but at the same time stipulates that the development of the situation depends on some "favorable political conditions" for Moscow.

The report also concludes that the security situation in Sweden continues to deteriorate, and the Russian Federation is allegedly increasing its military presence around the Baltic Sea. According to the Defense Committee, relations with the United States are still very important, but Europe will have to take on more responsibility.

"American foreign and security policy has changed significantly under the current administration. Actions are more characterized by unpredictability, rapid changes, harsher rhetoric and an increased tendency to use military force in their own interests, which in some cases was not supported by international law," the committee believes.

Its participants agree that rearmament should now take place faster — both in the military sphere and in the field of civil defense.

"The Defense Committee has previously established that the deterioration of the security policy situation indicates the need for an effective and accelerated build-up of defense capabilities and that time should be an important factor in all political and governmental decisions taken in the coming years, for example with regard to personnel, equipment and infrastructure. This requires an increase in the ability to make quick decisions at all levels," the report says, citing excerpts from TASS.
