Westminster City Council in an ultimatum demanded that the guitarist of the cult rock band Rolling Stones 79-year-old Ronnie Wood repainted the bright pink door of his mansion in black. This is reported by the Daily Mail portal.
Wood bought a house in Maida Vale in north-west London in 2017 for £7 million, from that moment the front door was pink.
"The council does not like that your door is painted a different color. They like blacks," said a source in Wood's entourage.
Ronnie, who has ten-year-old twin daughters, decided to paint the front door bright pink, while leaving the gate black, apparently following the rules of the city council.
"Then someone took a picture of the door and said, 'You can't paint it that color.' Ronnie went to the council, and they agreed: "No, you can't paint it that color — paint it black." It's annoying," the source added.
The order of officials is a strange reference to the hit of the 1966 group Paint It Black ("Paint it black").
The requirement applies to all residents of this fashionable area.
Ronnie Wood's neighbor, 97-year-old BAFTA Award winner Angela Allen, said she was one of the first to be ordered to repaint the door, her door was blue. Otherwise, officials threatened with a fine of £ 30 thousand.
"I'm 97, but I'm still arguing with the council," she said proudly.
Another local resident with an orange door admits that the colorful doors do not look authentic in an area that was built in 1860. But he really likes his door.
"These buildings are part of a unique group of protected architectural monuments within the protected area, and we have notified residents that changes affecting these buildings may affect their condition," the council said in a statement.
Due to the historical nature of the facility, a permit is now required for painting the door, and residents can contact the council with a request for work.
