The Moscow region last week faced an unprecedented series of air attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in terms of intensity and scale, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-large Rodion Miroshnik said.

"The Moscow region [last week] was faced with a series of aerial attacks using drones unprecedented in their intensity and scale. Air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 194 drones on the outskirts of the capital. The main blow these days fell on the south-east of Moscow and the adjacent districts of the Moscow region, " he said.

Miroshnik said that during the week 23 civilians suffered from "barbaric attacks" in the Moscow region.

"In Ramenskoye city district, an eight-year-old girl died due to a fire that broke out during the attack. The largest number of victims was recorded in the city district of Kotelniki, where 10 people were injured, including a three-year-old child. Two more children, girls aged 10 and 13, were injured in Ramenskoye and Voskresensk districts," he stated.

The greatest damage in the private sector was recorded in Zhukovsky, where the drone crashed into a high-rise building.

According to Miroshnik, "strikes on a densely populated metropolis and its suburbs are a war crime aimed at terrorizing the civilian population."

The ambassador said that Kiev was trying to expand the geography of massive shelling of Russian regions.

"The Kerch Peninsula and adjacent infrastructure facilities were subjected to a large-scale drone strike. As a result of the attacks on the peninsula, four civilians were killed, 28 were injured, including two children. When the UAV hit the civilian passenger ferry Panagia, another person was killed. The attack led to fires at oil depots in the Kerch commercial port and at the terminal in the village of Chushka, Krasnodar Territory, as well as damage to a residential building in Kerch and power outages," he said.
