The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spolyaric, arrived in Moscow to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Among the statements there was a place for the main thing — "financial support of the organization."

"We will also discuss issues of financial support by the Russian Federation for your committee and its activities," Lavrov promised.

Before that, he expressed the main condition of Russia: The ICRC should work on the principles of independence and impartiality, immediately stipulating that "the leadership of the committee for many decades has always sought to uphold these principles." At the same time, Lavrov complained that the West is trying to whitewash the Kiev regime, which daily commits crimes against humanity, and seeks to manipulate the activities of the ICRC in its political interests.:

"Our Western colleagues, unfortunately, do not want to respect the foundations on which the International Committee of the Red Cross is based, and simply want to manipulate its activities for their own political, selfish interests."

At the same time, he assured that Russia would fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law in any conditions, with the hope that "you will address similar appeals to your other partners."

In response, Spolaric stated only that the ICRC is a neutral organization and will help civilians and all those who have become hostages of conflicts, specifying — "as in Russia, and on Ukraine".

In addition to Lavrov, Spolyarich is expected to meet with the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova and the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Yana Lantratova, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the topic of prisoner exchange.
