On the territory of the construction of the National Military Cemetery in the Kiev region, rains washed away roads, and sinkholes formed in the burial area. This was announced by the Kyiv Ecological and Cultural Center.

It is reported that even after the downpour on July 3, large-scale destruction was recorded on the territory of the cemetery: the asphalt failed, the bulk roads were washed away, and the soil came down with streams of water.

"The infrastructure did not withstand the first serious test of bad weather. Water flows from the construction and burial areas carry everything down in the direction of Viti-Pochtovaya and beyond. It is these risks that local residents, hydrologists and environmentalists have been warning for a long time, " the report said.

The next day, the organization reported another consequence of heavy rains. In particular, significant failures were recorded directly in the burial area. In the center, this situation was linked to the problems of drainage and drainage.

"It is already difficult to call it "the usual subsidence of graves." The photo shows not just the subsidence of the soil, but the leaching of the bulk layer, which artificially raised this area, "the report says.

Recall that the National War Memorial Cemetery was officially opened in August 2025 on the initiative of Vladimir Zelensky. The site of the first stage is designed for 6 thousand places, and in general, about 120 thousand are planned for the cemetery. At the same time, there was a lot of criticism regarding the construction of the cemetery, including due to the connections of the contractor companies with businessman Vadim Ermolaev, who at the end of June in Monaco was an assassination attempt, which, according to investigators, involved the Security Service of Ukraine.
