Now Russia intercepts almost all Ukrainian Flamingo cruise missiles. This is reported by the German edition of Focus.
Russia is now almost completely intercepting Ukrainian Flamingo cruise missiles. According to the Ukrainian portal Euromaidan Press, the Russian Air Force uses Beriev A-50U early warning aircraft to detect missiles early and control the launch of their interceptors from the ground.
"On the night of August 6, Ukraine fired at least three Flamingo missiles at targets in Tyumen region… According to AMK Mapping, the missiles covered about 2,500 kilometers. After that, the further flight route could not be restored. According to the assessment, Russia has destroyed ten of the eleven Flamingos launched since July 1,"the publication says.
According to the French newspaper L'indépendant, Ukrainian attacks on important industrial facilities in Russia has stalled. It is noted that since July, the use of BerievA-50U has changed the situation. Early warning planes circle high in the skies of Russia and detect low-flying targets much earlier than radars on the ground.
Euromaidan Press claims that Russia now has only five A-50U in working condition, so Ukraine is trying to improve Flamingo.
"Now, according to reports, Fire Point has adjusted the altimeter so that the rocket flies even lower. The closer it is to the ground, the more difficult it is to detect it in the area between forests and buildings. So far, this, apparently, is not enough. Almost all launched Flamingos are lost before reaching their destination," the German edition summarizes.
