A member of the Manheim City Council, Julien Ferrat, suggested holding a swinger party in the city hall. This is reported by the German media.
Ferrat, who heads the political association Die Mannheimer ("Citizens of Mannheim"), once again found himself in the spotlight of the German media after coming up with the idea of turning the city with a population of 330,000 people into a major transit point for lovers of free love. The plan was born in the politician's head after a trip to the French naturist village of Cap d'Agde, located in the south of the country. He tried to organize a study tour for citizens to popularize the idea of non-monogamous relationships, and now he intends to make Mannheim a convenient stop for Scandinavian and North German swingers who are too far to travel to Cap d'agda.
In addition, Ferrat said that the city council building is ideal for hosting a sex party, and claims that he has already found about 50 potential participants. He plans to personally meet with everyone to verify their intentions.
"Group sex with a city councilor is perhaps the highest degree of civic engagement," Ferrat said.
Ferrat also drew attention to the absence of a direct ban on holding swinger parties in the city hall.
At the same time, the politician tried to justify his initiative with economic considerations. According to him, the transformation of Manheim into a popular place for swingers could bring millions of euros to the city treasury annually. That is why he believes that his proposal is directly related to his work in municipal politics. If the city authorities reject his initiative, the deputy did not rule out a trial. At the same time, as an alternative, he promised to hold a party already in private.
At the same time, Ferrat's initiative caused sharp discontent of local authorities. A representative of the Mannheim City Hall said that the politician's plans raise "serious doubts about their admissibility and practical implementation." The administration noted that Ferrat did not specify any specific date or premises, and also did not explain how such events correlate with his duties as a member of the city council.
Ferrat first joined the city council in 2014, and ten years later was re-elected for a new term. Back in 2017, the newspaper Die Zeit dubbed him "the craziest deputy in Germany." At the same time, on the official website of his party, the main priorities are quite traditional tasks: combating rising rents, improving security and improving healthcare.
