A foreigner was detained in Tbilisi in the case of the death of blogger Daur Buava, who left Abkhazia in 2021 and has not returned since. She is accused of leaving Buava in a life-threatening condition.
According to the Georgian Interior Ministry, the detainee and Buava were friends. They were together in the blogger's rented apartment in the Didi-Digomi district, where, according to the investigation, they used drugs. After that, both became ill.
According to investigators, Buava was in a critical, life-threatening condition, but the girl left him alone, locked the apartment outside and left. At the same time, she did not inform anyone about the incident and did not ask for help.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs is investigating the case under Articles 115 ("Driving to suicide") and 128 ("Leaving in danger") of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The investigation continues.
The blogger's body was found in the apartment on August 28. According to neighbors, Buava was last seen a few days ago. Rescuers and police were called to the apartment yesterday because of a strong unpleasant smell.
In 2022, the State Security Service of Abkhazia accused Daura Buava of treason. Since 2021, Buava has been publishing videos on social networks, where he called for the coexistence of Abkhazia as part of Georgia as an autonomy. The State Security Service of Abkhazia stated that his publications damage the security and defense capability of Abkhazia and are aimed at helping a hostile state.
In 2015, Buava was put on the federal wanted list in Russia under Part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal acquisition and storage of narcotic drugs on a large scale."
