Vladimir Putin, as part of the final press conference for 2024, held live, answered a provocative question from a British journalist from the BBC. A foreign guest asked the President of Russia if he had saved the country.
"Yes, I think he not only saved us — we moved away from the edge of the abyss," Putin said.
The Briton cited the example of SMO, multiple sanctions, high inflation and other aspects, and then asked the president the appropriate question. In response, Putin expressed confidence that everything that had happened earlier had led Russia to the loss of its sovereignty. Without the latter, the country could not exist as an independent state.
Speaking about the effect of anti-Russian sanctions imposed by Western countries and their partners, Putin admitted that they really create problems, but they will not be able to "kill" Russia.
"They (sanctions. — EADaily) should we or not? They interfere. Create problems? Create. Will they be able to close all this, kill us completely? No, they can't. They will cause us some damage and harm, but, of course, we will get out of this situation, as well as from other situations, with energy supplies," the Russian leader summed up.
