The Black Hawk military helicopter, which collided with an American Airlines passenger plane over Washington on the night of January 30, was operated by transgender pilot Joe Ellis. This is reported by the Pakistani The Tribune Express.
Ellis served in the Virginia National Guard for about 15 years. During this period, she "underwent a gender transformation."
"Some online sources also suggest that Ellis spoke openly about her problems with gender dysphoria and depression," the article says. "One of the messages claims that she wrote about these problems just a day before the crash."
The US authorities do not comment on this information, but there is an active discussion on US social networks. At the same time, ABC TV channel, citing former army pilot Jonathan Koziol, who works at the joint command center for coordinating the consequences of the disaster, indicated that the Black Hawk military helicopter was operated by a female pilot with 500 flight hours.
As EADaily reported, 67 people became victims of the plane crash that occurred over Ronald Reagan Airport on January 30: three crew members of a military helicopter, as well as four crew members and 60 passengers of a civilian airliner.
