The explosion at the Caustic production site of BSK JSC in Sterlitamak occurred as a result of depressurization of the process pipeline. This was reported to TASS in the press service of BSK.
"A technological incident occurred at the BSK production site. In preparation for the planned shut-down overhaul at the vinyl chloride—polyvinyl chloride complex, the process pipeline of pyrogas was depressurized along the weld seam," the report says.
Local telegram channels write that the victims have pulmonary edema, chemical burns of the eyes, burns of the upper respiratory tract and chlorine poisoning. There is no threat to the life and health of the city's population.
As EADaily reported, an explosion occurred this morning as a result of an explosion at the Caustic plant of BSK JSC in Sterlitamak. At the moment, according to the information of the Ministry of Health of the Republic, 27 victims have been hospitalized, 21 people are in the intensive care unit.
