The volume of production of one of the key ingredients of Nutella is sharply reduced from year to year. The manufacturer is looking for alternative sources of supply, but a reduction in supply may lead to higher prices. Gives details Gazeta.Pl .
Nutella may soon rise in price. This popular pasta is mainly made from hazelnuts, the harvest of which has declined worldwide. For example, in Italy, the collection has already been completed, it has halved compared to previous years. The Italians have about 70,000 tons. The national average in recent years has been about 120,000 tons.
Nutella is diversifying its supply sources to keep prices from rising. In addition to Italy, the company buys hazelnuts in Chile, the USA and Turkey. Other manufacturers are doing the same, but the situation doesn't look too good for other companies either.
"Low production in Italy is aggravated by the fact that due to spring frosts, production in Turkey, where 70% of hazelnuts in the world are grown, has also fallen," Ferrero (Nutella producer) said.
