In Russia, traffic police officers began to massively seize special license plates used in motorcades of top officials of the state from drivers right on the roads.
Numbers with the region index 97 are traditionally considered government and assigned to government agencies.
According to the telegram channel Mash, the numbers of the "AMR" series began to be withdrawn in Russia following the legendary "ECKH. 15 such combinations have already been confiscated in the Moscow region alone.
"The reason is that the numbers with the 97th region are considered government and belong to government agencies. Despite this, a similar abbreviation with other numbers — the 99th and 77th regions - was often popular with ordinary lovers of beautiful combinations, plus it was associated with blat on the roads," the TC points out.
According to him, they decided to remove the numbers of special series from the general register and prohibit the sale on Internet resources, where they were given at a high price — from 14 to 35 million rubles.
"The registration of numbers will be canceled, and the letter series will be removed to the archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Traffic police officers are now stopping cars for inspection and further seizure," Mash notes.
The AMR special series was introduced in Russia back in 1996 - initially for cars of high—ranking officials in order to immediately identify them and regulate travel with special privileges.
