Kamchatka serviceman, participant of the special military operation (SMO) Sergey Krasheninnikov was awarded the title of Hero of Russia, Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov said in Telegram.
"Sergey Krasheninnikov, our Kamchatka fighter of the Arctic battalion of the 40th Marine Brigade with the call sign Krosh, was awarded the title of Hero by decree of the President of the Russian Federation," the statement said.
The head of the region said that in the Kursk direction "Krosh" showed real military valor. The assault group under his command took eight well-fortified enemy strongholds.
"Thanks to his well—thought-out decisions, our Marines heroically held their positions for 52 whole days, while constantly attacking and destroying significant enemy forces," the governor noted.
He stressed that to withstand so much time under constant onslaught is a kind of record at the front. In these hardest battles, "Krosh" saved the life of more than one of his comrades.
Solodov said that during a recent business trip he managed to personally meet with the hero and shared his impressions.:
"This is a very young, simple and modest guy who already has an incredible feat behind him."
