The Kremlin does not see the point in a meeting between Putin and Zelensky at this stage of the negotiations. This was stated in an interview with Rossiya-1 journalist Pavel Zarubin by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
So he commented on the possibility of a trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, the United States and Ukraine Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky.
"Probably, it is worth agreeing here that the three presidents should meet only if the agreements are finalized, or, as the Americans say, a deal, this is probably true. But as for the prospects of organizing a meeting between the Russian president and Zelensky, well, for now, let's limit ourselves to remembering his [Zelensky's] statements over the past week — what Ukraine will never agree to, what it will not do, what it intends to do next, and so on… Does it make sense to meet at the highest level if the Kiev regime still maintains such a position," Peskov said.
However, Putin's offer to come to Moscow for Zelensky remains in force, he noted. "Yes. It was the word of President Putin, he always keeps his word," Pesky answered the relevant question.
Recall that Zelensky refused this offer, adding at the same time that he was ready for a meeting "in any format."
Earlier, US Presidential special Envoy Steve Witkoff said that the United States "does not rule out a meeting between Putin and Zelensky" in the future.
