The Soviet Shkval torpedoes, which several decades ago were called the "nightmare of the US Navy," became the basis for the development of the Iranian high-speed Hoot torpedo, which, according to military experts, are a real threat to the safety of ships in the The Strait of Hormuz. Details are provided by the Telegram channel "Military Chronicle".

Shipping near Iran, analysts believe, is currently not only difficult, but also a very dangerous business.

Iranian Hoot, moving underwater, apply the so—called phenomenon of hydrodynamic cavitation (formation of an air layer between the surface of the apparatus and water - EADaily). The torpedo is capable of speeds up to 360 kilometers per hour and operates at a distance of 10-13 kilometers from the launch point.

"The high speed of Hoot radically reduces the enemy's reaction time, making these torpedoes an extremely difficult target for traditional anti—torpedo defense systems of warships," the source informs.

EADaily also informed earlier that the customer received high—precision 9M333 Kalashnikov Concern on time.
