The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), under certain conditions, can generate electricity supplies to border areas, including Ukraine. This was announced by the head of Rosatom Alexei Likhachev following the results of the interdepartmental consultations of the Russian Federation and the IAEA held in Moscow.
"It may be under certain conditions, under other certain conditions [to talk about] the supply of electricity [to Ukraine]. But we We are ready to look broadly at this issue. The large capacity [at the NPP] is 6 gigawatts. It can be used not only in traditional directions. <> Here we may well have new partners, but not only some borderline ones. We are talking, among other things, about The United States," he said, answering a question from journalists, quoted by TASS.
According to him, Moscow is ready to consider a multilateral and international format of work on the use of electricity at the Zaporozhye NPP.
"Regarding the sale and use of electricity, we are ready to consider an international and even multilateral format," he said.
As the head of Rosatom noted, the issue of physical protection of the Zaporozhye NPP became one of the main issues during consultations with the IAEA.
"Consultations have traditionally been devoted to the issues of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, primarily in terms of ensuring its physical protection and safe condition," Likhachev said.
