US President Donald Trump is considering punishing some NATO countries for refusing to support the Iranian war. It is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

"The Trump administration is considering a plan to punish some members of the NATO alliance who, in its opinion, were useless to the United States and Israel during the Iranian war, administration officials said. The proposal involves the withdrawal of American troops from NATO member countries considered ineffective for military efforts against Iran, and their deployment in countries more supportive of the US military campaign,"the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the plan may also include the closure of a US military base in one of the NATO countries, probably in Spain or Germany. At the same time, the United States can strengthen its military presence in Poland, Romania, Lithuania and Greece.

"This proposal is far from President Trump's recent threats to completely withdraw the United States from the alliance, which by law he cannot do without Congress," the newspaper notes.

As reported by EADaily, Europe should decisively break off relations with the military structure of the United States and NATO. This was stated in the social network X by the foreign policy expert of the BSW party (formerly the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice, Sevim Dagdelen.

According to her, the war in the Middle East has demonstrated that US military bases do not provide security to the countries on whose territory they are located.
