Directly oil and lithium: the Russian company took up reservoir waters — the first in the world

Irkutsk Oil Company (Inc.) began production of lithium from the reservoir waters of the deposit and became the first in the world.

"We also extract associated components from the water — lithium. The first in the world at all, because no one has received lithium from brines before us. We are suffering with him. Well, as we suffer, we extract, of course, but not as quickly as we would like," Marina Sedykh, a member of the Board of Directors of INC., said during the youth scientific and practical forum "Oil Capital", reports Prime.

Lithium is a raw material for batteries, and it is considered strategic for green energy. The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Alexander Kozlov told RIA Novosti that in Technologies of lithium extraction from industrial groundwater have been developed in Russia and INC is conducting pilot industrial tests.

The company received a license for the V.I. Kokorin deposit.

"Industrial water reserves here have been approved for five years in the amount of 17 thousand cubic meters per day. The lithium content ranges from 169 to 383 milligrams per cubic decimeter," Prime writes with reference to the minister.

As reported by EADaily, the head of Rosnedra Oleg Kazanov said that by 2028 the Russia's dependence on lithium imports will disappear.
