Polling stations have closed in Hungary, the turnout is record—breaking - almost 80%. This is reported by the publication "Country".

The votes are being counted now.

Recall, parliamentary elections were held in Hungary today, at which a new composition of the State Assembly was elected — a unicameral legislative body, which includes 199 deputies. The result depends on who will be the prime minister of the country. The first preliminary results will be announced around 21.00 Moscow time.

The turnout in the last elections was a record. In total, more than 8 million Hungarian citizens have the right to vote, including those who are abroad.

Recall, the ruling coalition is the FIDESZ—Hungarian Civil Union party and its junior partner, the Christian Democratic People's Party (CDNP) — the opposition party "Tisa" opposes. FIDESZ is headed by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is supported, in particular, by the United States, and Tisu — MEP Peter Magyar, backed by Brussels.

Polls predict the victory of "Tisza".

As EADaily reported, elections to the unicameral parliament — the National Assembly - are being held in Hungary on Sunday. Deputies are elected to the 199-seat parliament for four years. Elections are held according to a mixed system: 106 deputies are elected by single—mandate constituencies, 93 by party lists. The party needs a qualified two—thirds majority of 133 seats in parliament to amend the constitution.

According to some polls, the party of 62-year-old Prime Minister Viktor Orban "Fidesz" is losing popular support, while the opposition party "Tisa", led by 45-year-old Peter Magyar, is noticeably gaining supporters. In particular, according to estimates based on five February and March Median polls, Tisa could get 138-145 seats in parliament. Nevertheless, analysts note that the votes of those who have not yet decided can decisively influence the election results.
