"After that, a positive decision may be made on the introduction of the euro, and with a favorable development of events, this may happen even earlier," Karman said in an interview with RTL.
He added that the "target date for the transition to the euro" will be set after the new Cabinet of Ministers assesses the financial situation of the country.
As previously reported, the government headed by Viktor Orban has repeatedly noted that Hungary is not yet ready to introduce the euro, because it does not meet the Maastricht criteria, which are established by the Treaty on the European Union of 1992 and relate to the financial and economic indicators necessary for joining the eurozone.
